The Coastal Awareness and Responsible Ecotourism (CARE) Recertification program is completed every 2 years with quarterly (every 6-months) reports.

These reports provide information on impact activities including:

  • Numbers of guests reached with CARE related content
  • Participation in professional development or other learning opportunities
  • Contributions to citizen science projects (observations and data collection)
  • Teaching; and volunteering

This platform is designed to help keep track of your reporting as well as offer additional learning opportunities and resources. To encourage stewardship of our coast, we require 16 hours of combined Professional Development and Service/Volunteering hours within a 2-year re-certification period. More information about what these hours might look like can be found in the Resources portion of this course. The goal of the CARE certification program is to support responsible ecotourism by providing a marketable credential, increasing communication between tour businesses and the agencies trying to reduce recreational disturbance on wildlife, and creating a standard level of information that individuals can convey to their customers.

Certified guides are placed in this course automatically upon successful completion of the Coastal Awareness and Responsible Ecotourism course. No registration is necessary.
