OYSTERS 101
Oysters are vital for both the health of aquatic ecosystems and development of coastal communities. They provide essential fish habitat and shelter for a number of other living organisms, filter pollutants from water and are fished both recreationally and commercially. Oyster reefs are also popular sites for recreational fishing for spotted sea trout, red drum and black drum.
This course explores the oyster’s biology, ecology, conservation, and aquaculture in Georgia. This work-at-your-own-pace content will help you to understand the complicated and fascinating role of Georgia’s oysters and their important role on the coast.
